“Zombeavers” is a horror comedy film directed by Jordan Rubin and released in 2014. It is a parody of the zombie and cabin in the woods genres, featuring a group of college students who are attacked by a horde of undead beavers. The film combines gore, humor and absurdity, as the beavers not only bite and infect their victims, but also transform them into beaver-human hybrids. The film begins with a truck carrying toxic waste hitting a deer and spilling one of the barrels into a river, where it reaches a beaver dam. The beavers are mutated by the substance and become aggressive and carnivorous. Meanwhile, three female friends, Jenn, Mary and Zoe, go to a cabin by the lake to help Jenn cope with her cheating boyfriend, Sam. They are soon joined by Sam and his friends, Tommy and Buck. The group decides to have some fun on the lake, but they encounter the zombeavers, who attack them and destroy their raft. They manage to escape to the cabin, but they discover that the beavers have chewed through the phone lines and blocked the road. They also realize that anyone who is bitten by a zombeaver becomes one of them. The group tries to defend themselves with various weapons, but they are outnumbered and outsmarted by the creatures. The film ends with only Mary surviving, after she kills Sam, who was infected by Jenn. She hitchhikes a ride from a truck driver, who turns out to be one of the men who caused the accident in the first place. He reveals that he has another barrel of toxic waste in his truck, which falls off and rolls into a pond full of frogs. The film then shows a frog with glowing eyes, implying that the infection will spread to other animals.
